Autumn TAG

I was so excited when Julie & Ashley from 20/30 Glam tagged me for the Autumn TAG. I love everything about fall and this is the time of the year that I start getting so excited for all of the upcoming holidays.

Favorite thing about Autumn?
The change in atmosphere for sure. People seem to calm down and become more friendly...does anyone else notice this or am I a total wierdo? lol

Favorite Drink?
I only drink coffee in the fall so I would have to say my coffee in the morning and of course a nice warm cup of hot cocoa. I love cider but only when it is from the cider mill and since I have not found one anywhere near us, we haven't had any recently.

Fave Scent/Candle?
Anything cinnamon or hazelnut smelling. My favorite candle of all time is the Buttered Rum candle from Walmart. Its only in stores during the fall and winter so we stock up on them. They make my house smell so delicious and people always comment on it.

Best Lipstick?
My lips tend to get really dry in the fall and winter because of the wind so I apply lip balms constantly. Unless I am going out, the product I have on my lips is the C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine. When I put this stuff on it is like having little angles dancing on my lips lol. It is heaven in a tube and I seriously recommend it. It will clear up a dry lip in no time.
Go to Moisturizer?
I love the Victoria Secret body butters. They keep me nice and moisturized and smelling nice.

Fave Go to Color for the eyes?
I love warm neutrals in the fall. I like to use a deeper brown in the crease and outer "v" and then a lighter neutral on the lid. I keep it kind of simple with the shadow because I do wear a little more liner in the fall.

Favorite Music to listen to?
Is is bad that I am listening to some Christmas music already? LMAO I listen to my normal music but by the middle of November I am in full Christmas mode haha....yeah I am one of THOSE people.

Favorite Outfit to wear?
Chunky over sized sweater over a tank top with some jeans or comfy sweats. I love wearing my boots too. I hate that I have little fatty calfs because it is so hard for me to find boots that fits.

Autumn Treat?
I love warm, plain, no powder mini doughnuts. They just melt in my mouth and I love it!

Favorite Place to be?
I love the cider mills (still sad we haven't been since we moved here) and pumpkin patches. I am a big family person and anytime I am with them I am happy :)

Thank you again Julie & Ashley! If you are not following 20/30 Glam already, get your booty over to their blog and check them out! I am so late on the Autumn TAG bandwagon because I was completing finals last week and I seriously think that everyone has been tagged already lol. So instead of tagging individual people I tag YOU and YOU and YOU too! If you haven't done it yet, you're it! Leave me a comment below with your link because I would love to read it.

P.S- Don't forget to enter my giveaway! It ends in 11 days so get your entries in for a chance to win Urban Decay, Real Techniques and more!

The Best Part...

A little over a week ago I read a very sweet post from 20/30 Glam where they talked about all of the wonderful bloggers that they met so far. This post has been on my mind all week. When I joined the blogging community I did not know what I was doing or what I was going to make my blog "focus", I just wanted an outlet. Hell, I still question if I am doing this all correctly. We moved to another state, I started school, and my crappy little blog with 2 posts got put on the back burner. In late February I decided to really start blogging, so I just wrote....about everything, literally lol. I was writing all kinds of posts but I started to loose my passion again and I couldn't figure out why. I loved writing, and chit chatting openly, and expressing my feelings and thoughts but I wasn't writing about anything I was passionate about. After a bit of struggle and banging my head against the wall, it finally clicked...beauty. I have always loved hair, makeup, and everything beauty so why not make that something I talk about. So I became a lifestyle blogger making beauty one my focuses.
I was skeptical at first, who on the internet would be interested in anything I had to say about beauty products, I'm not a professional. After a few beauty posts I realized that readers are just like me, they don't just want to know what the pros are doing and using. When reading a beauty lovers blog, its relatable and more real....that's how I feel anyway. Before joining the beauty community, I had met a few other bloggers but I never established any friendships and felt "accepted". I can honestly say that joining this community full of amazingly talented women (and men) is the best blogging decision I have made. I was accepted with open arms with tons of love and support and I couldn't be more thankful.

After reading Julie and Ashley's (20/30 Glam) post it really made me think of the wonderful new friends that I have met from blogging. I love sharing my thoughts and having a small little platform to blab my big mouth from but the best part isn't the free stuff or sponsorship offers, it's the friendship, love, and support provided by all of you. To my beautiful new friends, thank you! You have made this blogging journey of mine take on a whole new meaning. I love that I can share my everyday normal life in it's entirely..beauty, fashion, DIY, and a few other things in between. When I created my blog the last thing that I ever expected was meeting strangers and becoming genuine friends with them. It was an incredible surprise and the support yall have shown me is truly inspiring.

September IPSY Reveal

IPSY has been one of my favorite beauty subscriptions to date. Every month I look forward to that hot pink package in my mail box. For those of you that don't know, IPSY is a $10 per month beauty subscription service that sends you 4-5 products that are either full size or deluxe sample size. I can not tell you one month where I have not gotten at least 2 full size products and I always get my $10 worth. This month was a little frustrating because there was a billing issue with my account. The first customer service agent did not help at all but the second one got everything taken care of. I do wish that they will eventually get a phone customer service line because it was a hassle trying to solve an issue through email. Other than that, I have never had any problems in the past.

This months theme was "Classic Beauty" and I have to say, I am so happy with everything that I received this month. So what did I get? What was the total worth?

Here's what my bag included:

-Starlooks Kohl Eye Pencil in 'Obsidian' - $12
- Victoria Jackson Taupe Brow Pencil - $15
-Elizabeth Mott It's So Big Volumizing Mascara in 'Black' - deluxe sample
- NYX Single Eye Shadow in 'Morocco' - $4.50
- Cailyn Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm in 'Big Apple' - $19
-They also threw in a small sample of Michelle Phans EM Cosmetics 'Out To Lunch' Life Palette
Total Bag Value = $50

I can not wait to try out the Lip Balm. It has the consistency and opacity of a lipstick and when I swatched it I fell in love with it. IPSY is a great way to try new products and build up your collection (I received 4 full sized products this month). If you are interested in becoming a Glam Bag subscriber, click HERE!

E.L.F. Essential Lipstick Review & Swatches

If you are on a budget but want some new fall lipstick, E.L.F. is your solution. I don't normally wear dark lipsticks but this fall I thought I would give it a try. I wanted to find colors that I liked first and ELF's essential lipstick line has a variety of colors available and they are priced at a whopping $1 each. To be honest, I did not expect much from the lipstick when I ordered it...I mean it's only a $1. I chose 6 different colors I so would have a range of colors to try and see which I liked for future lipstick purchases and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. It did have its flaws and of course it wasn't the most luxurious lipstick but it did its job and it did it well.

(the lighting is horrible in this picture but you can see the true color swatches below)

Likes:
-the colors are actually very pigmented
-sociable and fearless leave a bit of a stain but I was okay with it, it looked natural.
-Combined with a lip lock pencil, they lasted around 4 hours
-Creamy texture
-Some people say that the taste is bad but that wasn't the case for me. I hate getting lipstick taste in my mouth and these were no worse than any other lipstick
-$$$$
-Buying these are a great way to try new shades without blowing your budget

Dislikes:
-the packaging...its a little hard to twist.
-as you can see on the 'Nostalgic' tube, they can get a little messy looking but I think it is from the packaging being hard to twist because it is all in the inside of the tube.
-they can be drying after a few hours of wear but I found that if I used a lip balm under and a moisture rich lip gloss over you will not have this problem.

Overall, I think these are worth picking up. They have great color payoff and you can get multiple shades for a low price. I bought these thinking that I would only use them for color testing before I purchased the color in a more expensive brand, but I like them and will keep them with my collection.

ALSO..... excuse the lighting of my pictures lately, my DSLR is in the shop and I should have it back soon. I hate that my picture quality has gone to crap since I am using this cheap little camera for now but hopefully I won't have to use it much longer. Don't forget that the giveaway will be going live on the 19th!

Fall Has Taken Over

I love Pinterest and I love it even more now that Fall has completely taken it over. I love when holidays and seasons approach and Pinterest is the perfect place to get into the "holiday" spirit. September to December are my favorite months of the year. Family and friends come together to celebrate and give thanks and I really think these holidays bring families closer. The atmosphere changes and people are more kind and giving and I just love it. I started to pull out my fall decorations this week and I could not help but to check out Pinterest for a few ideas to spruce up this years decor.

Here are some of the ideas I am loving the most:

I don't go all out for Halloween decorations, I decorate more for fall as a whole but I do like to incorporate a few little Halloween pieces here and there. Do these projects get you in the fall spirit? They sure did for me!

I've been under a rock....

Hey Y'all!
I have been so busy lately trying to catch up on school work and keep things together around the house that I have had little time for blogging. I spent the last 2 days catching up on sleep and I literally feel like I just crawled out from under a rock lol. I hate when I am away for a week at a time but sometimes it's necessary because of school. Anyways, I have missed y'all and I am so happy to be back on my normal daily grind. I wanted to update y'all as well and let you know that the giveaway is mostly set up (I have a few pics to take and I am waiting for a palette to come in the mail) and I have it scheduled to start on the 19th. I ordered a palette from Hautelook but it was broken when it got here :( so I am sending it back and I went ahead and ordered a different palette from Ulta to replace it. The giveaway will have something from Real Techniques, Urban Decay, E.L.F. and more so I hope y'all like it. I am super nervous because this will be my first giveaway with things that I have personally purchased and I want you to like it.

Okay loves, thank you for being so patient with me :)

BA Star Stardust Mineral Eye Shadow & Glue Review

BA STAR is a company that provides makeup and accessories for cheerleaders, dancers, and competitors but did you know that you could use it to? I was initially sent the Stardust Mineral Eye Shadow in 'Chocolate'. I was missing the Glue-Liquid Base with the Chocolate shadow so I emailed the company to let them know and they were awesome. They responded quickly and let me know that they would be sending it out immediately. Two days later, I got the package in the mail...with a little bonus. Along with the Glue-Liquid Base they also included Stardust Mineral Eye Shadow in Lavender. I definitely give their customer service an A+. The colors are absolutely gorgeous, very pigmented, and I could not wait to try them out.

I love how versatile these shadows are. You can go light for an every day look or deep for a night out. You put the base on just like a primer and then immediately apply the shadow over the base. The shadows are so beautifully vibrant with the liquid base. You could also use these without the base if you are wanting to use the shadow as an overlay on another shadow. The liquid base makes all the difference (see below photo) in the look you are trying to achieve.

My little sister came over this weekend and I was excited to use them on her to see what she thought as well. She is not really big on makeup so when she does get her makeup done she always goes for a more natural/classic look. The 'Chocolate' shadow was a perfect choice for her. I could create a va-va voom eye without having to do a smokey eye.

What I did to create an everyday fabulous look using 'Chocolate':
I used my E.L.F eyelid primer all over the eye lid, then applied the glue-liquid base only where I wanted the 'chocolate' shadow to be and patted the shadow on with a brush. I blended the line up into the crease to help soften the look (this shadow does blend out incredibly well, btw). I then used a champagne color in the crease to help soften the transition and lighten the eye a bit. Here's the end result:

Final Thoughts:
She loved that it was gorgeous and that she could use it everyday and I love that I could have easily smoked this look out for a dramatic night look. I can see why these are used in competitions by dancers and cheerleaders because the shadow literally stays in place all day long. The liquid base is excellent and really makes the shadow stay in place and the color POP but it is not necessary. I would have never thought that I could get use out of makeup designed for competitions but I was so wrong. I actually think this shadow holds up so much longer and better.

The BA Star Stardust Mineral Eye Shadows are priced at $8.75 and are worth every penny. You really get a lot of product so it will last you awhile. To make it even better, BA Star is offering a 50% off discount, good until September 30, 2012, to my gorgeous readers. Just enter the code BBDUST at checkout.

I received these products free in exchange for a review though Brand Backer. My opinions are mine and honest and have in no way been influenced by the brand or with monetary compensation.

Liebster Award

Y'all know I love me a liebster award so I was happy when Lily from Beauty With Lily nominated me for one. Yayy! So if you're not familiar with a liebster award, it is an award that bloggers give other bloggers, with less than 200 followers, that they believe deserve recognition. I absolutely love these because I think it's important to support each other as we embark on this blogging journey together

Here's the rules ladies and gents...
1. Link back to the blogger that tagged you.
2. Answer 11 questions from your nominator.
3. Nominate 11 other blogs and ask them 11 Questions - NO tag backs!
4. Visit their blog and let them know.

My Questions from Lily:

1.) What blog do you follow religiously?
Kandee Johnson, of course :)

2.) What is your DREAM job?
My dream is to own a beauty salon within the next 10 years. It will happen, I'm determined.

3.) Your go to makeup look?
My favorite look for everyday is a classic/ natural look. I don't like to pile on the makeup unless we are going out.

4.) What is one beauty/fashion trend you don't like?
I've talked about this before..I hate the platform sneakers that are coming back. They make me cringe when I see them lol.

5.) Describe yourself in 3 words...
honest, determined, stubborn

6.) What is your signature scent?
Burberry Classic

7.) What are 2 beauty products you CAN NOT live without?
Foundation because my skin is awful and mascara for my baby lashes

8.)What advice would you give new bloggers?
Don't compare yourself with other bloggers. It can be really intimidating when you first get started and it is easy to compare yourself to other bloggers. Just stay true to yourself and don't conform to what everyone else is doing because you will start to hate blogging. This happened to me for a bit when I first started and it was awful. I finally found my groove and I would much rather have less followers and love what I am doing, rather than a bunch of followers and hate blogging.

9.) If you could have a celebrity spouse for a week, who would it be?
Charlie Hunnam....oh man, enough said.

10.) Describe your blog in 3 words...
beauty, a constant work in progress, mine

11.) Why do you blog?
I have really bad anxiety and there are times when I can go a week without leaving my house. Blogging is an outlet for me. I'm able to connect and talk with other people who had similar interests without all of the pressure. Around my family and friends I am loud, fun, always joking, and very outgoing so it's weird for me to have anxiety out in public. I am slowly getting better by forcing myself into situations I would be uncomfortable in and blogging has been a tool that has helped me. I am not as afraid to meet and talk to new people now :)

Who I'm Tagging:
Emma from Emmaloujohansson
Elizabeth from Elizabeth: Beauty and Beyond
A Pinup Princess
Samantha from Life Style Love
Kathleen from Makeup & Beauty
Abbie from The Perks of Being Abbie
Krystal Alice from Pressing Pause
Julie & Ashley from 20/30 Glam
These are the blogs that I am nominating. I know it is not 11 but I have done quite a few of these already and nominated so many bloggers.

My Questions For the Nominees:
-What's your favorite part of fall?
-If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
-What is your go to beauty brand?
-What's on the top of your wishlist?
-What's your favorite memory from this summer?
-Favorite t.v show?
-What gets you going in the morning? Coffee, Music, Exercise?
-What do you hope to be doing in the next 10 years?
-Favorite food?
-If you could only have one for the rest of your night, would you choose mascara or foundation?
-Are you excited for football season or dreading it?

Whew! That took awhile LOL. Make sure to check out Lily and my Liebster nominations. They really do have fabulous blogs and I think you will enjoy them :)
