Why Bloglovin?

Can someone answer this for me please?

I love Google Friend Connect and I have no idea why they would want to get rid of it. I am still kind of new to blogging so I am thinking that maybe I have not experienced the bad of it like others have. People seem to be excited about Bloglovin but really I am dreading it. I don't like the idea of going to a separate website to see what bloggers are posting and I will be honest, I think their site is kind of confusing. I am in no way bashing Bloglovin....I am just wondering why everyone chose it as a switch over. Is there something that I am missing? Will Bloglovin be the only way to count followers now? Will it be like starting over again? Please if you have any great links or videos or anything that can help me figure out Bloglovin..I would greatly appreciate it. I have been through ALL of the ones on their site so I need to find great outside resources.

Again, this is not me bashing Bloglovin, so please, no hate mail. I am really just trying to figure it out.
My blog is just now starting to take off { I seriously gained 73 followers in 17 days } and I am so nervous that I will have to start over. This switch over is probably going to hurt smaller blogs who don't have a great build up of readers like larger blogs.

  1. Here are a couple of things I like about bloglovin:

-I get an email at the end of the day with updates from all of the blogs I follow
-I can follow what ever blog I want through them, regardless if they are a member or not.
-They have a plug in for my tool bar that lets me see whether or not the people I follow have new posts or not.
-They posts the beginning of the blog (first couple of lines) in the lists of updates, so I can quickly decide if I am going to read further. This is very nice as I am following more and more folks.

I am already following you there, so you don't have to worry about loosing my sub, but you may want to do a call out to get people from GFC to follow on Bloglovin' - this post may do the trick too.

The only other similar services I have seen are: Networked Blogs (but you have to be connected through Facebook, as well as the blog you want to follow) and Cotton - though I don't know much about that one as I was already using Bloglovin'

As far as 'help' posts for clips, I am sorry I can't help you there - but hopefully I have helped you some. :-)

  2. I also am confused by the switch. I do know that people can still follow thru GFC. The blogger dashboard is not going away which is where I read my blog from. I personally don't like Bloglovin because from my experience it is behind blogger. I see posts sooner thru blogger than bloglovin. I use bloglovin on my phone and use blogger on my computer.

    1. I also read all blogs from the dashboard. I think it is easier to keep it all on one site. I really like how it is now and I am not sure why they would get rid of it. I read so many places that GFC was going to be gone and that is what I hated the most but I am glad to hear that will stay.

    2. This is what I understood, as well. I don't think we will loose Google Friend Connect. I'm almost certain we won't.
I read my blogs from the dashboard, I have been doing this for seven years, and have never used the "Google Reader."
Google Reader is what will be ending.

  3. Hey there! I'm Danielle from SewMuchCrafting.com - I host the Share the Love Blog Hop with Natasha each month. Anyway. You can find the link to my post about Bloglovin' below - it's super easy to import the blogs you already read through Google Reader to Bloglovin'... I haven't done a lot of research, but I've heard that GFC isn't leaving - just Google Reader. Not sure what that means exactly, but I'm hoping that we won't be "starting over" with our stats. Not really sure, but hope it helps a little bit! =) Thanks for co-hosting our party with us this month! Hope you get some follows from it!

    1. Thank you so much for the link Danielle! I am heading there now. I am wondering if people were just freaking out in the beginning about losing GFC. I didn't think it was going anywhere only Google Reader (which I still have no idea what that is exactly lol) but then I seen on so many peoples blogs about losing GFC. I am so glad that I posted about this now and learned that it isn't going anywhere...I had a brief small heart attack about it lol

  4. I heard that GFC is staying after all.
I've never used Google reader anyway, and read all the blogs I follow through the dashboard.

    Have a great day : )

  5. As far as I know, only google reader is going but they've been hinting for a long time that GFC is on the way out which I think is shortsided and dumb. All because they made a big mistake with Google Plus and not making it more user friendly at the get go. I hope they keep GFC I love it. I still plan like it will be here forever...just in case. :)

Thanks for commenting on the Aloha Friday Blog Hop in the last month or so. Just getting back to everyone who commented now!! I'm following you via Bloglovin' and GFC!

    Have a lovely week!

  7. thats true, its going to hurt smaller blogs....i think the switch is due to more advertising on bloglovin. it was probably a deal they made with google in terms of $. either way bloglovin is great too, you'll get to love it too :)
