Springtime Spa Treatment: Treat Your Skin to Paradise

How great would it be to feel renewed and re-energized after a stressful day without having to book an appointment? Spa treatments are no longer just for vacations!

After returning from my recent trip to Honolulu I started thinking about how we often limit relaxation to only a few days throughout the year. My stay at the Sheraton’s Waikiki Khakara Hotel and Spa, one of the top hotels in Honolulu for spa treatments, left me refreshed, relaxed and re-energized. So I decided to bring a piece of paradise home with me …

Here is a heavenly and rejuvenating DIY Spa Treatment that I picked specially for Spring. It is sure to brighten, gently exfoliate and energize your skin while getting you in the mood for short sleeves and lawn games!

Coconut Ginger Body Scrub

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons Coconut Oil
1 tablespoon Plain Applesauce or Apple Puree
1 tablespoon Agave Nectar
1 teaspoon Ginger Powder
3 tablespoons of Raw Sugar

Optional: A couple of drops of your favorite essential oil (a little goes a long way with essential oils!). With this particular scrub I recommend botanicals like Rose or Geranium.

Directions:
In a small bowl combine Coconut Oil, Applesauce, and Agave. Mix these ingredients until they are fully and evenly blended. Add the Ginger and Sugar.

Run a hot bath or shower. Using a spoon to scoop manageable amounts of the scrub into your hand and gently scrub your entire body working your way up from your feet. After exfoliating, rinse with a wet washcloth to scrub away any excess.

I hope your skin loves this treatment as much as mine does!

Note: Even though these are all natural and edible ingredients, if you tend toward having sensitive skin, I suggest trying the recipe on a small patch prior to slathering it on your whole body!
